First day back at school goes well at Lake Fenton Middle School.
Lake Fenton staff greeted many familiar faces, but also many new ones at the first day of school Tuesday. Lake Fenton Middle School Dan Ferguson said the first day back went well. Teachers and other employees made sure the new students, and the 160 sixth-graders, are settled in. "We have more than 50 new students to our building," Ferguson said. "As a district, we have over 100 new students." At Lake Fenton Middle School, Chloe Wittersheim, eighth grade, said her favorite class is language arts. She's excited to see her friends, after a fun summer that included hanging out with friends and visiting Chicago. Lake Fenton Middle School hosts presentation of highest MEAP scores in the county.
When Laura Tyrrell moved her family from Utica Schools to Lake Fenton schools last year she had no idea what to expect. After seeing a presentation Thursday at Lake Fenton Middle School about the sixth, seventh and eighth-graders earning the top ranked MEAP scores in Genesee County, she was elated. “It’s phenomenal,” she said. “I see the college bells and whistles. It gets the kids excited about their future with not only high school, but college.” Averaging math, reading and science, Lake Fenton seventh-graders and eighth-graders scored the highest in public schools of Genesee County.
