Many local children and seniors will have a gift on Christmas morning, courtesy of the 61st Community Wrap-In in Memory of Nancy Stockham. The event organizers, in honor of the late social worker from Fenton, are seeking donations and volunteers. It will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 6, at the Tyrone Covenant Presbyterian Church, 10235 White Lake Road, Fenton. New item drop offs will be today through Dec. 5, at the Linden Presbyterian Church, 119 W. Broad St., Linden. The Linden Presbyterian Church is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Late social worker, Nancy Stockham, of Fenton, began the program for families in need. The community gathered at Fenton United Methodist Church Tuesday.
Many hands made 95 Thanksgiving baskets fill quickly at the Fenton United Methodist Church’s Family Life Center on Tuesday. Volunteers from the Fenton High School National Honor Society, Fenton Educational Support Personnel, City of Fenton Fire Department, Fenton United Methodist Church, Loose Senior Center Community Angels and the community helped unload food and other necessities and fill boxes for people in need. Later in the day, families visited to collect their baskets, which contained a turkey, potatoes, milk, stuffing, fruit and other trimmings for Thanksgiving dinner, as well as other food and necessities for them. A Fenton Area Public Schools bus drove up to the church, carrying a full load of donated items for the baskets. …
