Wintry Snow and Ice Mix Closes Lake Fenton, Fenton Schools Monday

A Winter Weather Advisory expired at 6 a.m. Monday, but area public and private schools are closed all day.

After a night of snow and freezing rain, the Lake Fenton Community Schools and Fenton Area Public Schools are closed for the day. As of 5:30 a.m., the following schools officially canceled classes due to wintry conditions: Nearby districts are also closed. Fenton Area Public Schools posted that all AGS Middle School athletic events are cancelled, while Fenton High School Basketball (all levels Freshman, JV and Varsity) are on as scheduled for tonight. A Winter Weather Advisory remained in effect until 6 a.m. Monday after several inches of snow fell overnight and then turned into freezing rain in areas. Fenton, Lake Fenton Schools Closed

Linden and Holly Schools are also closed, as well as many district across Genesee and Oakland Counties.

Fenton and Lake Fenton Schools are closed for today becauses of the weather. Linden and Holly Schools are also closed, as well as many district across Genesee and Oakland Counties. All Fenton district athletic events will still take place Tuesday evening. A wind chill advisory is in effect for Fenton and much of southeast Michigan, the National Weather Service announced Monday evening. The NWS reports that this "shot of arctic air ... will be the coldest of the season." Morning temperatures dipped into the negative and the high Tuesday is 8 degrees with snow flurries. Tuesday night will have a low around 4 degrees with a windchill of -10, according to the National Weather Service. Snow showers are also likely Wednesday with a high of 16. …
