New for Fenton Jinglefest — Fireworks Finale

Fireworks will blast off after 6 p.m. lighted Christmas parade on Saturday, over the Fenton Community & Cultural Center.

Saturday’s Fenton Jinglefest will be a real blast — literally — with a new fireworks finale. “We’re excited about the fireworks,” said Shelly, Day, Fenton Regional Chamber of Commerce president. The fireworks finale will be very short, at 8-10 minutes, but the chamber hopes to raise more money for future, bigger shows, Day said. The cost for this year’s eight-minute finale is $2,000. People can see them right after the Christmas parade, which begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 1. The fireworks will be visible over the Fenton Community & Cultural Center. In addition, many Jinglefest activities begin at a new time, 3 p.m. on Dec. 1, Day said. These include the return of horse-drawn wagon rides downtown, courtesy of Caretel Inns of Linden. And there will …

Nothing to do with the DDA nor are the fireworks meant to detract from the meaning of CHRISTmas. Rather it is meant to attract visitors to downtown Fenton. Sounds like you have an ax to grind with the DDA, save that for a DDA meeting. Try volunteering with the Jingle Fest committee and see the hard work and dedication these volunteers put into making this event happen for our community to enjoy.   more ›

Fenton Farmers Market Delights Its Fans

Thursday evening activities include the market outside the Fenton Community & Cultural Center and Concerts in the Park, at the Fenton Gazebo.

Digging through a plastic pan filled with sand, toddlers Samantha Miller and Maren-Jean Miller searched for "dinosaurs." The activity, offered by the Rainbow Child Care Center at the Fenton Farmers Market, delighted the two first-time market-goers. The two were with father, Kevin Miller, who said the family ate, did a little shopping and then decided to have some fun finding toys in the sand. Lauren Peabody, also of Fenton, went to the market for the first time with her baby daughter, Amelia. "I love it," Peabody said. "It's my first time here, which is very silly because I live in Fenton. "I adore it," she added. "I think it's a great thing for a small town." The Fenton Farmers Market was filled with long-time fans and new ones on …

Cal Roberts Delights Audience at Fenton's Concerts in the Park

The location changed to the Fenton Community and Cultural Center due to the heat; another free concert is scheduled next Thursday at 7 p.m., at the Fenton Gazebo.

The day was too hot for an outdoor concert, so Cal Roberts' audience stayed cool in the Fenton Community and Cultural Center for the Concert in the Park. Carol Lebert, of Fenton, attended the concert with her mother, Catherine Panigal. "I thought it was wonderful," Lebert said. "It was entertaining. It brought back a lot of memories. He obviously sang to the age group." Toes were tapping, people sang along and clapped, and some got up to dance as Roberts performed some old favorites and entertained his audience. When he sang, "The Twist," Roberts ended by saying he used to be able to do the twist. But now, at 70 years old, he can't do some of the things he used to. The audience enjoyed Roberts' songs and sense of humor, snapping up DVDs of…
