The following information was provided by the Fenton Police Department. An arrest does not necessarily mean a conviction.
Fenton police received a report of a quick change scam at Buffalo Wild Wings, in the 3000 block of Silver Lake Road, at 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, said Chief of Police Rick Aro. The manager at the business called police, saying a man requested change for a $100 bill from a clerk, the police report said. As the clerk began making change, the man asked for several other transactions that resulted in him scamming more than $400, Aro said. The man is described as 5 feet 10 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a light complexion. He was wearing a green and gray, long-sleeved fleece shirt with a green winter hat, police said. There are no reports of other businesses being scammed by the man, Aro said. Anyone with information is asked to call the …

Fenton police are searching for two suspects, a man and a woman, who might be involved with other thefts at the store on Silver Parkway, police say.
Fenton Police received a report of stolen tequila at VG’s Foods on Silver Parkway, when store personnel contacted police to make the report at 1 p.m. Friday. The incident actually occurred at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, said Chief of Police Rick Aro. Store employees told police they noticed three bottles of tequila missing on Friday and checked surveillance footage, Aro said. They discovered footage of a man and woman, both approximately 35 to 36 years old, entering the store Thursday, selecting bottles of liquor, going to another location in VG’s and concealing the liquor in their clothes, the police report said. The two left the store without paying, Aro said. VG’s provided photos of the suspects, whom police are trying to identify. The woman…

Stormwater systems, including Fenton's, typically constructed to handle 25-year rain event, he says; measurement refers to amount of rain that falls in a certain time period.
Two to five inches of rain, most of it falling within an hour, drenched the Fenton area Tuesday morning. The city's stormwater system is built -- like most stormwater systems -- to handle a 25-year rain event, but Tuesday's precipitation would qualify as a 50- or 100-year event, Department of Public Works (DPW) Supervisor Dan Czarnecki told city council. The rain fell so hard and fast that North Leroy Street, and streets around Fenton, became flooded until 1 or 1:30 p.m., he said. Streets that became flooded included Swanee Beach, roads in the industrial park, South Long Lake Road, and Ellen, Third, Fourth and Walnut streets. At an apartment complex off Trealout Drive, water was coming into the buildings. "It was basically due to the …

Tuesday's downpour created some problems in the construction area on North Leroy Street in Fenton.
Motorists drove through standing water on North Leroy Street in Fenton Tuesday morning, as rain accumulated in the construction area. Fenton Winery & Brewery owner Matt Sherrow said the production area of the business flooded and it took him hours to dry it out. Many others observed flooding in the area as well and posted on the Fenton Patch Facebook Page. Jessica Weston Haney posted, "Flooding in the industrial park off of Owen Road and Silver Lake Road. I saw several stranded vehicles, and just managed to get my mini-van through the flooding. Avoid that section!" Nicole Higgins Maddock said, "My yard is a mess!! Never flooded like this before! Wow!" By afternoon, most puddles had dried up again, leaving some mulch left out of place in …
