Dominick was pronounced dead on April 12, 2010 when he was taken off life support. Sadly, Dominick’s story is not unique. Child abuse claims the lives of five innocent children daily in the United States.

Childhelp, in collaboration with Dominick’s Paternal Grandparents and Dominick’s Law (please visit www.facebook.com/DominicksLaw to learn more), is hosting an event in honor of Dominick’s memory and to help raise awareness about the secretly growing epidemic of child abuse and neglect. Childhelp Run the Course for Dominick Calhoun will be taking place, appropriately during Child Abuse Awareness Month, on April 21 at Kensington Metro Park in Milford at the East Boat Launch.

Every 10 seconds we wait another report of child abuse and neglect is being reported. Childhelp, along with Dominick’s family, is confident that Childhelp Run the Course for Dominick Calhoun will raise the level of awareness that our nation’s abused and neglected children deserve.

The Childhelp Run the Course for Dominick Calhoun event will begin at 7:30am on April 21 and will go until 1:30pm. Throughout the day participants can either run in the 5K or walk in the 1 Mile fun Walk. Families, Individuals, and Teams can have a light lunch while children enjoy the bouncy houses and other child friendly activities. Medals will be presented to the top three runners in four different age categories along with the top three fundraising teams. All proceeds raised for Childhelp Run the Course for Dominick Calhoun will be going to programs that directly benefit the youth that Childhelp Michigan serves.
