Spirit Halloween opened at 15100 Silver Parkway earlier this month in Fenton, but it will be the next 10 days when the shop will get most of its business.
Even so, several items have been flying off the shelves already.
The most popular Halloween costumes for children have been anything to do with Monster High, including monster bride, walking zombie or gothic ballerina-type outfits, according to district manager Angie Hatfield.
Also, anything with fancy fur or hoodie has been a hot item.
“We can’t keep them on the shelves,” Dushaine said. “Hoodies have been going fast.
Kim Dushaine, of Novi, recently stopped in the store with her daughters while visiting family in Linden. She picked up three bumblebee costumes for her girls, ages 6, 4 and 1.
“Dad’s going to be the beekeeper and they want me to be the queen bee,” she said.
She said the family will be participating in their church’s trunk or treat event as well as going trick or treating on Halloween.
The most popular adult Halloween costumes have been simple superhero T-shirts, which Hatfield said many people turn into pajamas afterward.
“A lot of adults want something simple,” she said.
Skin suits, which are a full body suit of green or blue covering head to toe, have also been a top seller, Hatfield said.
“We get a lot of requests, and we have a lot of costumes and accessories, but we are not a craft store,” Hatfield said.
