New Downtown Fenton Business Offers Convenient Fitness Options for Women

Shawn Stevens knows a lot about health and fitness, but one of the most important things she knows about keeping people healthy is that if a workout regimen is inconvenient or intimidating, people just won’t do it.

That’s why Stevens created Downtown Fenton’s newest business, a women’s only fitness studio that caters to the needs of her clients' busy, demanding lifestyles.

“Moms often can’t workout because getting childcare for a couple hours a day isn’t possible,” Stevens says. “I have child care available on site. Part of my job is to help people get rid of excuses - even when they’re good excuses.”

Shaped by Shawn offers personal training, as well as courses such as Zumba, Bikini Boot Camp, Total Body Big Ball Blast, Pilates and more. Stevens is working to build a schedule of kids’ courses as well, such as Drums Alive Kids Beats and Zumba for Kids.

“It’s just another way we can help moms out,” she said. “By giving them healthy play options away from video games and TV.”

Stevens brings years of fitness and training experience to Shaped by Shawn. After working as a certified trainer for clients in Bloomfield Hills, Novi, Northville and more, she recently decided to stay put and offer her services to her hometown community. She currently employs three additional fitness instructors at her new business.  

“I love helping people and I love to see people succeed,” she says. “I’ve been into fitness all my life, but I’m not one of those paper thin instructors. I know what it means to struggle with weight, and that’s a benefit to my clients.”
