Our Sleepy Town

Fenton is coming to life and we are looking forward to the Fenton Art Walk this Friday and sharing the Cafe of LIFE with the city.

...is really beginning to come to life and I LOVE IT!!!  Fenton has so much to offer and has been asleep for a long time.  It is a far cry for some place like Rochester with a bustling downtown, but we seem to be starting to move in that direction.

I was born and raised here and graduated from   I grew up south of town on an apple orchard and didn't really spend a lot of time in town.  I left the Fenton area for 10 years for school and returned in 2005.  Moving back to the area to open my practice was a challenge after living in and around big cities Boise, Idaho, Anchorage, Alaska and Atlanta, Georgia.  I got accustomed to having a lot of restaurant choices, super markets, small markets and lots of things to do for entertainment.  I do not eat "American" food, don't care too much for Italian style and am always hunting down fun things to eat and end up having to drive 30-40 minutes to get some of my favorites.  That in and of itself was frusturating to me.

Regardless of all of that, I decided to open my practice here anyways.  In fact, when I first was looking for business space to lease, my top priority was getting a one year lease.  I wasn't sure I really wanted to be back in such a small town and I didn't want to be stuck in one location for 3-5 years (which is normal for a business lease).  I opened my doors, found there are a lot of people looking for our services in this area, and now 6.5 years later, I am here to stay.

A lot has changed in 6.5 years and over the past maybe 2-3, there has been some stirring within the city.  Seems Fenton is still an highly sought after place to live and the people that are trying to create an image for Fenton are making some waves.  There is so much hype around what the DDA is doing but if what they are doing brings more people, more services and more revenue to this great city, more power to them.

The first big event, The , is planned for this coming Friday and our business is involved.  We are proud to have one of our very own presenting her art work here at the .  We have really been looking forward to it and there is a lot of buzz surrounding the event.  I am a team player...I always have been.  I try to get involved (at a reasonable level) with as much as I can and when I cannot help, I at least go and attend.  I feel that the more people, the more interest, the more energy that surrounds something, the more likely future things will be planned.

Since I moved into this building last summer, there are so many people that drive by wondering exactly what this place is, what it looks like inside, and are intrigued by how many people come and go on a daily basis.  I take a lot of pride in designing this place and decorating it with my own flair.  It is unique.  Come get involved, swing by the Cafe of LIFE, introduce yourself, come meet us, see our artist's beautiful work, maybe stay for a snack and refreshments or just step in to feel our space.  I am very excited and excited to share it all with you!!!
