Another Round of Katie's Game Slated for Monday

The golf fundraiser will help grant wishes for terminally ill children and aid a local family with a child battling cancer.

Before , the Fenton teenager shared two requests.

She wanted to help provide a “wish” to two or more children who were terminally ill and help a local family with a child battling cancer.

Friends and family have decided to try to help fulfill those requests with another Katie’s Game, similar to the , but this time the sport will be golf.

The Katie Wyatt Memorial Foundation has also been started.

“She wanted to make sure there was a fund set up to help other children,” said family friend Mary Ann Beltinck, who is helping to organize the golf outing.

Katie's friends said she would love the event and the chance to help others.

"Katie would be honored," said Erin Fuller, 14. "Katie liked the attention and her knowing that the money is going towards Rainbow Connections to help make kids' dreams come true, she would be so happy that we are giving back. I think the golf outing is a way of saying thank you."

"I think it's amazing we're having another Katie's game," said Madison Ballard. "I think it would mean the world to Katie. She would probably be so happy knowing we're still trying to help cancer patients, even though she is gone. I know Katie very well. She would be very excited and would be very proud of everyone helping and proud of us, us as in the community and our school."

Breakfast and lunch will be served along with a Taste of Fenton-style dinner, which nongolfers are invited to attend for $25 fee. There will also be a silent auction.  Organizers will also have a photo booth set up and will have live entertainment. Katie’s Game T-shirts and rubber bracelets will be sold at the event.

“There has been a great response,” Beltinck said. “The Fenton community never ceases to amaze me.”

Organizers are looking for golfers, sponsors, donation of silent auction items and monetary donations. Donations can be sent to Katie Wyatt Memorial Foundation, c/o Sawyers, 101 N.
