Here's what's going on around town the next couple of days.
This weekend is nearing and it's time to start planning. We've rounded up some of our favorite let-yourself-go, get-out-and-make-life-happen events. But be careful to pace yourself, though: These selections are charged with good times!

Why go: Oakland County Parks and Recreation celebrates Memorial Day by hosting a family camping weekend at Groveland Oaks County Park with patriotic art, bingo, tie-dye, bicycle parade, face painters, outdoor games, entertainers, DJ Dance and bands.

2. Beth Stalker & Jim Rawlings live at the Fenton Hotel
When/where: Fenton Hotel, 302 N. Leroy St., Fenton; Saturday, 8 to 11 p.m.
Why go: Nothing beats live entertainment!
Price: Free.
3. Memorial Day Parade
Where/when: Begins at . The parade will start south on Leroy Street, stop briefly at the Fenton Gazebo, turn west on Shiawassee, stop briefly at Freedom Park and continue to Davis Street south to Oakwood Cemetery. At the cemetery, a memorial ceremony will take place. The parade begins at 10 a.m. Monday.
Why go: To honor the veterans of war.
Price: Free.
Where/when: Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad, 6140 Bray Road, Genesee Township; Saturday through Monday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why go: Optical illusions and magic.
Price: $10 adults, $9 seniors, $8 children 12 and under.
