Fenton Police responded to a retail fraud complaint at 2 p.m. Jan. 14 when Silver Parkway VG’s employees reported they recognized a man who they believed had stolen liquor from the store on previous occasions.

VG’s employees reported the man had taken liquor bottles and moved them into a different aisle and told police he usually returned to conceal them in his pants, Aro said.

A police officer confronted the man while he exited the store and another officer searched the man’s vehicle, where a bottle of liquor was visible. The man was arrested on retail fraud charges, but when police searched him he had no bottles of liquor concealed.

At the Fenton Police Department, the man admitted to stealing the bottle of liquor in his car from the Canton Walmart and police also found out the man was on parole, according to the report.

Aro said 45-year-old Wayne man was held overnight, until he was pick up by his parole officer.
