Fenton Township Man Charged with Child Abuse

Man allegedly poked 4-year-old girl in the eye, held her near space heater.

A 35-year-old Fenton Township man has been arrested on charges of child abuse.

According to NBC 25, the man poked a four-year-old girl in the eye 20 to 40 times and also held the girl near a space heater as “punishment” after the young girl allegedly accidently kicked the man’s 1-year-old son in the eye.

[This] is certainly not a corrective action. It was a brutal, unnecessary thing to do to a child,” Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell told NBC 25.

The incident happened at the Eastview mobile home park, according to the Flint Journal. The girl went to the hospital, but was not admitted, the article stated.

"A child. You have to question what kind of mindset does it takes to do that to an innocent little baby," Pickell told ABC 12.
