Crime Report: Fight Breaks Out at Fenton Gas Station

are investigating a fight that occurred at a gas station on the 3000 block of Owen Road on Feb. 23 around 5:40 a.m.

According to police, a 72-year-old Linden resident called police and told them he had pulled up to a pump behind another car at the gas station, when the man in front of him, a 71-year-old Fenton resident, yelled at him to turn off his headlights because they were blinding him.

Fenton Police Chief Rick Aro said that led to a verbal dispute, during which the Linden man told police he became scared and told the Fenton man that he had a concealed weapons permit. The Fenton man then pulled a 24-inch table leg out of his car. The Fenton man eventually left the gas station and later told police he grabbed the table leg because the Linden man threatened him with a firearm.

Police have contacted the prosecutor to see if a warrant will be authorized in the incident.

Retail Fraud

Police arrested a 54-year-old Fenton woman on charges of retail fraud after loss prevention told police she concealed items in her purse and attempted to exit the store without paying.

Aro said officers contacted the woman, who admitted to the theft, saying she didn’t have any money to buy her daughter birthday gifts. Police said she tried to steal $41 worth of items including snacks and magazines.

Salt theft

employees told police a woman loaded her vehicle with seven bags of salt, which were located outside the store, and failed to pay for the items.

Aro said employees reported after she loaded the salt in her vehicle, she entered the store, paying for several other items, but not the salt.

The salt was valued at $60.

Police have no suspects.
