Lake Fenton Goes On Lockdown After Bomb Threat

Caller said there were five dirty bombs in Genesee County schools.

Many area schools, including Lake Fenton, went into lockdown Friday afternoon after a Saginaw County 911 Dispatch received a call saying there were five dirty bombs in Genesee County Schools.

The Tri-County Times reported schools followed lock-down procedures shortly after 1 p.m. and then dismissed students at the regular time.

The Flint Journal reported Lake Fenton also cancelled all after-school activities.

The article stated that ISD spokesman Jerry Johnson said in an e-mail that the threatening call was apparently made by an older man.

It has been reported that call came from a pay phone at Conlee Gas Station on Birch Run Road and I-75 in Birch Run.

"Based on the information we had, it didn't appear to be a credible threat. We took the basic precautions, kept the kids safe, kept them secure and that's the best thing we could have done," Genesee Township Police Chief Tod Sorensen told ABC 12.

WNEM TV5 reported Michigan State Police troopers conducted a search of all the school buildings and grounds and found no signs of danger. The Linden district was evacuated, the article stated.

Banana 101.5 is reporting that the The Genesee County Sheriff asks that all area residents please not call 911 for information.
