West Bloomfield Woman Dies in South Holly Road Crash

Speed of the motorcycle determined to be cause of the crash, police said.

A West Bloomfield woman died Sunday night after a motorcycle crash on South Holly Road, just outside of the Fenton city limits, police said.

Michigan State Police - Groveland Post trooper Nate Ellis said Ellen Fuson, 56, was taken to Hurley Medical Center in Flint and put on life support before she died a short time later.

Her husband, Jackie Fuson, the driver of the motorcycle, remains in serious condition at the University of Michigan Health System.

Ellis said the motorcycle, driving west on South Holly Road in Rose Township went around the curve, across the center line and struck a Ford truck traveling east, driven by a 56-year-old Holly man, who was uninjured. Both motorcycle riders were ejected from the vehicle, Ellis said, and a full-size van, driven by a 58-year-old Holly resident, also uninjured, then hit Ellen Fuson.

Ellis said the speed of the motorcycle caused the crash. Both motorcyclists wore helmets.

Both riders of a motorcycle were still breathing at the scene of a three-vehicle accident Sunday, and one University of Michigan Survival Flight helicopter and an Oakland County helicopter carried them off.

The 911 call came in around 2:58 p.m.

Janice Lazar, who was driving to White Lake when she saw the accident right after it happened, said the woman in the car was very upset. Lazar also saw the motorcycle driver, who was able to tell her his first name.

Fenton's police and fire departments, the Genesee County Sheriff's Department, Michigan State Police and STAT EMS ambulances responded to the scene.
