On the Agenda: Mosquito Control, Fire Department Report and Chamber of Commerce Projects

Here is a glimpse at what's happening at tonight's meetings.

While area schools are on spring break, it’s business as usual for city and township officials tonight.

Both the and have meetings scheduled.

The Fenton City Council will host a work session at 7:30 p.m. in the city hall conference room, 301 South Leroy Street.

Fenton Regional Chamber of Commerce officials will talk about upcoming goals and projects.

Chamber president Shelly Day will announce that the board of directors has approved money to be spent on the shop local campaign. Day said the campaign will include banners at local high schools and commercials.

She will also announce that the chamber will continue workshops in local high schools and continue to offer a $500 scholarship for students in , and Linden High Schools.

She will also discuss the upcoming membership drive.

“We are going to be contacting potential members and offer special advantages for them to join,” Day said. “We are going to give them a chance to give the chamber a try and see the great things we can do for them.”

Also on the city of Fenton agenda is a discussion on mosquito control, community development block grant projects, the Silver Parkway lighting project and the Fenton Art Walk. You can see the full agenda here.

The Fenton Township board will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Fenton Township Civic Community Center, 12060 Mantawauka Drive.

On the agenda is the quarterly Fenton Township Fire Department report, several proposed zoning ordinance amendments and the award of a lawn and landscape maintenance contract.
