Sue Osborn Will Remain Fenton's Mayor

Osborn has defeated her first challenger in six years.

She’s been in a position of leadership in Fenton for more than a decade, and she’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

Sue Osborn has served as Fenton’s mayor since 1999 and council member since 1985, and on Tuesday, she was re-elected to the position in a tight 1,101-927 race.

"To be here 27 years and to have people say we want you to do two more is really humbling," Osborn said. "After that long, most of the time, people want change."

She defeated challenger Tim Faricy, who has served on the City Council for the past four years.

It was the first time Osborn has been challenged in six years. She will serve a two-year term.

Osborn first became involved with Fenton's City Council in 1985 when she was appointed to a position. She also served on Fenton’s Planning Commission from 1978-1985.

“There are a few things that I wanted to see completed before I retire,” Osborn said.

Some of those things include the development of the , a bigger library, making the handicap-accessible and promoting the sharing of services with other local communities.

"I'm very honored and humbled," Osborn said. "It's a great experience."
