Lake Fenton Officials Pick Three Finalists in Principal Search

The second round of interviews will be held on April 19.

officials have chosen three finalists in the search for a new high school principal.

Galesburg-Augusta High School principal Todd Reynolds, Howell High School assistant principal Jason Schrock and Summerfield High School and Middle School principal Scott Leach will receive a second interview on April 19, starting at 5 p.m. at the Lake Fenton High School media center. The public is invited to attend.

A seven-person team consisting of two board members, two administrators, two teachers and one parent will interview the candidates.

“We think we have three very strong candidates, all of them are extremely qualified,” said Lake Fenton superintendent Wayne Wright. “We are happy with the field.”

Wright said the plan is to hold a special meeting for the Lake Fenton Board of Education on May 2, when officials will give their recommendation to the board on who should fill the position.

School officials selected eight finalists — out of 61 applicants – that where interviewed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Current principal Jerry Kramer is leaving the school district after 27 years of service as an administrator, teacher and coach. The 61-year-old has been in education for 38 years.

According to the 2009/2010 budget, the position paid a base salary of $92,000 in addition to benefits.

“Salary will depend on the individual’s educational background and their experience,” Wright said
