Lake Fenton Students Excel in Voice of Democracy Contest

Three students advanced to the district level.

Forty-five Lake Fenton High School Advanced Placement English Language and Composition students wrote speeches that were recorded and sent to the Fenton VFW post #3243 as entries in the annual Voice of Democracy Speech Scholarship contest. This year’s theme was “Is our Constitution still relevant?”

Three students, Nicholas Forbush, Dominic Melton and Eljesa Vitija, advanced to the district level. They were recognized at a banquet at the Clio, Michigan VFW post on Jan. 13 Approximately 20-25 Genesee County high school students placed at this level.

Vitija received a certificate of award for her entry. Melton received a fifth place award certificate and $50 scholarship. Forbush received a second place award certificate and $200 scholarship.
