Lake Fenton Theatre to Present Footloose

The show will play Feb. 7 through Feb. 10 at Lake Fenton High School.

Lake Fenton Theatre (LFT) will to present the high-energy dance musical, FOOTLOOSE, to the community.

The production will debut on Thursday, February 7th and play through Sunday, February 10th at the Lake Fenton High School at the corner of Lahring and Jennings roads in Linden.

Inspired by the wildly popular 1984 movie, FOOTLOOSE has become a stage musical phenomenon. It’s a story of American spirit – a carefree city boy (Matt Maldonado as Ren McCormack) transplanted to a conservative, rural town where rock ‘n’ roll and dancing are forbidden. Through tenacity and clever use of the Bible, Ren takes on the authorities, makes all the right moves, wins the girl (Sydney Wolgast as Ariel Moore), and, most importantly, brings healing and dance back to the heart of the town.

Directed by Brenda LaBonte, choreographed by Karen Whittaker, and musically directed by Stacey Garback, FOOTLOOSE explodes onto the stage with its  dance routines, ‘80s costumes, and a score full of classic anthems that defined the ‘80s.

Once again, the creative team has assembled an  cast of talented young performers and crew members including Patricia Whittaker, Stephan Wilson, Corinne Brown, Miranda Bubin, Kyle Willoughby, Nick Forbush, Lucy Reigle, Bailey Phegley, Casey DeMoss, Kennedy Williams, Libby Draeger, Alex Schwartz, Ethan Fegan, Raied Jawhari, Aimee Craig, Donovan Leary, Lena Maldonado, Matt Frasik, Tim Symons, Skylor Smith, Emmanuel Watson, Madeline Frasik, Randi Bannister, Tristan Hagenstein, Keinan Hagenstein, Cassie Lindsey, Aya Elsawi, Julianna Davidek, Bri Rose, Ashlyn Summers, Trey Nelson, Vincent Nagel, Andrew Petts, Shannon Cody, Kristen Cody, Kenny Whittaker, Kuristin Porritt, Analisa Reed, Brianna Rak, Laura Carlson, Kyle Arrowood, Lauren Oppenheiser, Kylie Pennington, Tim Mulehlenbeck, Kamaya Whittaker, and Cody Jaglelski.

In addition, Special appearances by Lake Fenton Band Director Ryan Gonder, Alumni Tim Nickels, Genesee County Commissioner Tony Brown and members of the St John the Evangelist Choir are scheduled.

“The students in this year’s production of Footloose easily identify with the themes of community and control, love and loss, the fear of abandonment and the joy of acceptance," stated Brenda LaBonte, Drama Director.

Tickets for FOOTLOOSE are priced $5 for students and $8 for adults. Tickets go on sale on Monday, Feb. 4th. Performances are Thursday, Feb. 7, Friday Feb. 8 and Saturday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. and Sunday Feb. 10 at 3 p.m.
