Fenton Volleyball Falls in District Final

Tigers downed 3-1 by No. 4 ranked Clarkston Thursday.

Fenton volleyball player Payton Maxheimer believed Fenton played one of its best matches of the year Thursday.

However, it wasn't quite enough to take down No. 4 ranked Clarkston in the district finals. The Tigers earned an opening game win, but fell 24-26, 25-19, 25-16, 25-19 to the Wolves at Clarkston High School.

"We knew what we had to do to work hard and we pushed ourselves as hard as we could," Maxheimer said.

Fenton played tough, but couldn't quite seem to take control as the Wolves attack kept the pressure on.

Maxheimer and Sarah Collier each had nine kills. Megan Cockin had 30 digs and went 40-for-40 passing. Julia Gilbert had 36 assists.

"Our team was so close. We were like one family," Maxheimer said. "We always had fun at practice, but we always worked hard."
