Just Call Me Jazz Hands

Don't miss out on some great local talent, what a blessing to have so many opportunities for live theater performances right here in our backyard!

That's right, Jazz Hands.

That's what they call me down in Waterford, when I go sing karaoke. Half the state knows me by that name, and forget the fact that I have a life beyond singing.  One of the reasons I ended up in Fenton was because of my Jazz Hands background! I met my fiance singing karaoke in this area, and have been since introduced to many other local talents as well. Do we ever have local talent!

In case you weren't aware, The has an awesome season this year. You may have missed a few performances, but don't be discouraged, they have another show coming up next week called "I Love you, You're Perfect, Now Change." FVP is also host to the kidztheatrekompany.org. What a great opportunity for our children. I only wish something like this had been available when I was that age. I thought I belonged on the stage starting when I was about 2!  I believe that I don't have to do much free plugging for this, as the FVP has a pretty good following. But did you know there are a few other theater groups in Fenton?

Outside The Box Theatre Guild (http://site.otbtheatre.com/Home_Page.html) has some pretty awesome productions this year as well. Their second show, "Forbidden Broadway" was full of hilarious inuendo and satire. I only wish I had been able to blog about it while they were still performing, the satire provided an opportunity to lose several hundred calories by sitting in a chair and laughing.  Keep an eye out, their upcoming show, "Next to Normal" is written by the same people who did the musical "Rent!" so make sure you get a chance to check it out.

Not that I want to take away the benefits of having several theater companies right here within our town, but we have so much local talent, that if there aren't parts available in Fenton, several of our local musicians will audition in other close venues. This is why I don't want you to miss Avenue Q, playing at the Starlight Theatre in Waterford. It is showing the last weekend in February and the first weekend in March. I know I will be there, supporting our ladies and gentlemen from Fenton.

I only wish that I was as talented as many of these fine men and women. Until the day that I grow enough guts to try out for a show (or until one of these companies obtain the rights to Chicago!), I will remain a faithful patron, who best utilizes her own voice at karaoke, and telling you about how energizing these performances truly are. I hope to see you there.
